This article constitutes an attempt at recreating the possible allusive readings, political references and hidden meanings in three operas by Wojciech Bogusławski: Dla miłości zmyślone szaleństwo (Madness made for love), Axur król Ormus (Axur, king of Ormus), Izkahar Guaxary (Izkahar, Guaxara). Key this search are attitudes characters analysed towards loss freedom – one may argue that their ways to cope with violence ruthless autocratic tyranny could be perceived as contemporary. is why story, which its outer layers unhappy love, became eighteenth-century viewers a story most important contemporary politics.
